Apr 12, 2026 - FASSelangor FC secured a point after being held to a 1-1 draw against Sabah FC in their Matchweek 22 fixture of the 2025/26 Super League at MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya yesterday.
The Red Giants controlled the game from the outset and took the lead in the 31st minute through Faisal Halim. However, the advantage was short-lived as Fergus Tierney equalised just two minutes later. Despite that setback, Selangor continued to dominate proceedings with sustained pressure and created several dangerous chances, but were unable to find a second goal. The match, which was both intense and entertaining, ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.
Selangor FC Head Coach Kim Pan-gon expressed his disappointment at not being able to deliver all three points to the supporters and urged the team to continue improving.
“To be honest, I am very disappointed, and on behalf of the team, I would like to apologise to our supporters. We should not have dropped points, but that’s what happened. The fans came with high expectations, but we failed to meet them. We gave our best, but we allowed the opponents opportunities and failed to make the most of our chances. We should have been more clinical in front of goal, scored earlier and controlled the game better, but we were unable to do so. With three matches remaining, the team will continue to work hard to achieve our targets while improving step by step,” he said.
Next week, Selangor FC will travel to Sarawak to face Kuching City FC in the second leg of the Malaysia Cup semi-final at Sarawak State Stadium on 18 April, with kick-off scheduled for 8:15pm.
For supporters who are unable to travel to Sarawak, the club will be hosting a live watch party at Suasana Market Hall starting from 7PM. Let’s continue to show our support for the team wherever you are.
The Selangor FC management would also like to thank the 3,477 supporters who turned up and showed their strong support during yesterday’s match.
